January in northern Minnesota doesn’t pretend to be comfortable.
The kind of cold that settles in early, quiets everything down, and makes a place feel even more still than it already is. Out on thirty acres, tucked behind a long driveway lined with pines, the lakehouse felt completely removed from everything else. No neighbors in sight. Just wide glass windows, snow, and a frozen lake stretching out beyond it.
Inside, it was warm. Soft light coming through those wide living room windows. The kind of space that naturally feels beautiful and awe inspiring. Getting ready happened slowly, together. No rush for these two, no separation, no forced build up.

Camiel and Anthony didn’t need direction.
They let their own love and their own emotion lead the way.
There’s a certain kind of couple where you don’t have to look for anything. It’s just happening, constantly. The way they kept reaching for each other without thinking. The constant romantic stolen glances. The way everything, even the quiet parts, carried weight.
They said it best themselves. “in every lifetime”.
That line showed up on their cake, but it was already present long before that and will remain long after.
They read their vows in front of the windows, the lake just beyond them, the world, completely still. The kind of moment that doesn’t ask for anything extra. Just attention and care and presence. After, drinks poured. Music turned on. A champagne tower built in the kitchen. Dancing in between it all.

Outside was different. -29 degrees.
The kind of cold that makes you instantly say “NOPE!”. But they didn’t. They wanted the land. The lake. The full feeling of where they were.
So we stepped out, bundled up.

Quick movement, short bursts, then back inside to the double-sided fireplace. Warming hands. Laughing about it. Then back out again. The cold didn’t take anything away from the day. It became part of it.
Part of what they’ll remember.
By the end, it didn’t feel like a series of events. It felt like time they had taken for themselves. Space to actually be in it, instead of moving through it.
That’s what stayed.
Not just what it looked like.
But how it felt to be there.
