Spring Maternity Photos at Itasca State Park

Spring in Northern Minnesota can be unpredictable. You really never know what to expect, is there going to be a snowstorm? Rain? Freezing temperatures? However, this session went a little different and everything seemed to fall into place like magic.

Our client contacted us and wanted a package to record all their big moments in their new journey of parenting. From the pregnancy announcement, maternity, and newborn photos they wanted it all from bump to baby.

The perfect location can be hard to find in the Bemidji spring, I sent her different inspo and she chose the one she felt was the best fit for documenting her parenthood journey. She chose a forest scene with a little set up of a clothes line. I went ahead of time to scout out the perfect spot and found exactly what we had in mind.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect Minnesota spring evening. It was 70 degrees and sunny! We started photos in the pine forest and moved our way to the lake where ice had started melting around the headwaters. It was the perfect picturesque scene of them starting their parenting journey where the great Mississippi River starts.

During our session we saw swans, watched the sunset, took pictures around the creek, and talked about baby names for their baby boy. We said our goodbyes and I told them to let me know when baby is here and I’ll be there to capture those precious newborn moments!
